‘I TRAVEL NOT TO ESCAPE LIFE, BUT FOR LIFE NOT TO ESCAPE ME’ – ANON
After a ten day vacation, I’m now settled back at home, and ready to give you the scoop on one of the best holiday destinations I’ve ever been to, otherwise known as…Thailand!
My first trip to Thailand was in 2013, I was a few months into my first major breakup with Hubby, and decided that it was time to fully embrace YOLO!
I found a great deal on lowcostholidays.com, spent hours on tripadvisor reading through hotel and activity reviews, and finally presented the idea to my older sister. In true Olamide style, she was just as excited as I was, and a few days later our tickets were booked!
I truly believe that Thailand is a country that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. There’s something to do for absolutely everyone. From cooking classes, to island hopping, to wellness retreats, water activities, night markets, historical landmarks, shopping, partying, you name it. I would go back in a heartbeat!
For anyone considering a trip to Thailand, here are some of the places I can recommend visiting, and things we got up to whilst there.
1) Flights
I used secretflying.com and holidaypirates.com to find a great flight deal.

- Tints of Blue Hotel [Bangkok]
£11.50 per night incl. Breakfast + free wifi
Rooftop Swimming Pool

This hotel was wonderful, our room was small but clean and had everything we needed in it. There was a constant supply of hot water, free refrigerated water, a kitchinette, and a lovely window view. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and even gave us a small gift! Breakfast was also exceptional, fresh Fruit, Toast, Tea/Coffee, Yoghurts, as well as an Omelette station and Thai dish of the day.
- The Blue Pearl [Kata, Phuket]
£10 per night + free wifi, excl. Breakfast
Rooftop Swimming Pool
Booked via Agoda
This hotel was also very clean and a lot bigger than the hotel in Bangkok. We had two incidents regarding hot water, but otherwise the water supply was fine. The wifi was very fast [faster than that in Bangkok], and the staff were moderately friendly. The highlight of this hotel was its location, we were spoilt for choice with regards to nearby food options, and a 10 minute walk to the Beach.
Favourite Hotel? Both! Tints of Blue for its design and comfort. The Blue Pearl, because of its proximity to food and the Beach.
