Two weeks ago I posted the photo you can see above on Instagram. I had my older sister around and we spent the afternoon together, cooking, laughing and being silly as usual! We were both craving a little something sweet, so decided to whip up a bowl of Puff Puff. I shared the process on Instagram, and let’s just say the love was real! So many of you asked for my recipe, and I promised you exactly that!
Puff Puff is very easy to make, and is the ultimate definition of delicious! Definitely a winner if you’re hosting guests, but beware this stuff is addictive, and should be consumed with caution!
Here is exactly how I make it…
NIGERIAN PUFF PUFF RECIPE
3 Cups Plain Flour
3/4 Cup of Sugar [alter to your liking]
3.5 tsps dried Instant Yeast
Pinch of Salt
Optional: 1/4 tsp of Nutmeg and 1/4 tsp of Cinnamon
Cooking Oil
We have this in South Africa too, more savoury than sweet though; we call it either: magwinya – vernac, or ‘fat cakes – English or ‘vetkoek – Afrikaans; you’re making me want to make them now, and I never have them unless my grandmother makes them, which hasn’t been in years… It’s winter here now though so this could be a win, crossing fingers mine don’t fail!
