How I rent £1000 worth of camera and tech gear for as little as £1

Last month one of the worst things that has happened to me in my seven years of blogging finally did. I was setting up and getting ready to record a video, when my camera and tripod came crashing to the ground right before my eyes. The moment was surreal, I could have sworn it happened in slo mo because it felt like the most dramatic scene in the movie of my life, as I leapt to try to catch them but failed miserably!

Fortunately, my camera body survived the fall, but my beloved 50mm lens took it’s last breath, and called it a day [forgive the drama Queen in me! Lenses aren’t cheap!]. I was so devastated I cancelled every plan I had made for the day, jumped into bed, and indulged in a YouTube binge watching session with my fave tub of ice cream by my side.

Moral of the story… insure your camera and your lenses!

Anyway, as I’m sure you’ve guessed from the title of this post, there is some good that came out of the fall. I decided to look at things from a different perspective, and view the incident as a sign to go ahead with my decision to invest in a new and better camera. I’d been contemplating upgrading to the Canon 70d or 80d since the start of the year, but first of all wanted to give them a test run.

Thus began my search for cheap camera rentals, which led me to Fat Lama, a UK rental website where you can rent almost anything. Cameras, lenses, lighting, drones, heck even caravans!

I was sceptical about the renting process at first, but after signing up and having to provide ID, as well reading through the FAQ’s, I was rest assured that the website was legit, and indeed it was. My first rental was an absolute breeze, and thanks to the initial new user discount code, I paid just £1 to rent the Canon 70d and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens for one day, which total up to £1000!

To top it off, Fat Lama also has a referral scheme which gives you and any person you refer £25 off a rental. Thanks to this scheme, I’ve been able to rent £1k – £1.5k worth of camera gear for 10 days for less than £10!

So my blogger friends or tech enthusiasts, if you’re looking for a new camera and want to take it for a test drive, or you have a special occasion that requires something more glamorous than the camera on your mobile phone, I would highly recommend a Fat Lama rental. I’ve taken my last few instagram photos [below] with the 70d, and I think it’s fair to say I’ve fallen in love!

The ultimate blogger checklist: things to check before and after publishing a post + Free Download

It dawned on me a few weeks back that I’ve been in the blogging game for over seven years!

When I look back at my early blog posts from my loveyourtresses days, I semi cringe at how poorly written they were! Those days I had no clue, I was proud of my posts and loved blogging so much, that nothing could deter me from it. Of course in hindsight those so-called ‘poorly written’ posts, were what helped me to build a platform in the first place, and what I have to thank today for the progress I’ve made over the years.

If there was one thing I wish I had access to in my early days of blogging, it would be a resource that would guide me on how to create the best content possible. Back then I knew nothing about SEO, rarely linked to relevant blog posts, and was clueless about so many other amazing blogger tips and tricks.

Whilst I’ve still got a way to go with my blogging skills, I can definitely say I’ve come a long way, and one resource in particular has helped me. View Post

Five tried & tested time management tips for maximised productivity

In my last post, I gave you the scoop on one of my most effective time management tools. I was pleasantly surprised by how many people downloaded the free template, and think it’s fair to say that time management is something many of us are struggling with!

Today I want to take things a step further, and share on four additional tools and techniques, that have helped me to master my time, and boss up on my productivity game.

Let’s get straight to it.

Accomplish all of your goals with these 3 techniques

Today I’m going to dish the scoop on some of the things I achieved in 2016, and exactly how I achieved them. I spend a lot of my time reading personal development posts, books, and articles, and one thing that really frustrates me, is when a writer shares on ‘5 ways to make this year better than the last‘, or ‘3 ways to get rich fast‘,  but doesn’t personalise this or share how they have done this themselves!

I promise I won’t do that!  View Post

How I’m going to save more money by spending more on clothes! [Cost Per Wear Theory]

Before the end of every year I do two things. I set my goals for the new year, and I also indulge in a serious wardrobe and beauty cabinet detox. There’s something about the start of a new chapter that pushes me to want to de-clutter and re-organise. Well last year, December to be precise, I did exactly that, I went through my hair care/beauty cabinet, and did my usual task of creating a ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Maybe’ pile, allowing my younger sisters to take their pick from the ‘Maybe’ pile, before giving it away to charity.

In the case of my wardrobe however, this didn’t quite go as planned! View Post
